Barcelona, Spain – Travel Guide

Barcelona is one of my favorite European cities. I fell in love with the tropical climate and vibrant culture that this lively city had to offer. The cultural diversity and positive vibes make it one of the best entry destinations in Europe for minority travels. I found it very rewarding to use my minimal Spanish-speaking skills to order traditional Spanish cuisines around the city.

Places to Eat
  • Case Angela – good paellas, by la Sagrada Familia
  • La Catina Mexicana – friend recommended
  • Rosa Negra – friend recommended
  • Amorino – chain gelato shop, available in some US cities, but much tastier in Europe
  • Mercado de la Boqueria – huge market with great fruit and things to try (get mangos!!)
Things to Do
  • La Sagrada Familia – main cathedral in Barcelona, took over 150 years to build, definitely a sight to see
  • The Bunkers – my absolute favorite place in Barcelona, absolutely amazing view of the city, best to go at sunset, bring wine and snacks, very relaxing
  • Park Guell – touristy but very pretty, where the cheetah girls filmed Strut, good view of the sunset
  • Montserrat – essentially this is a huge mountain that you can hike up to get a nice view, not central in the city so great 1/2 day trip, bring snacks and water
  • Soccer Game – recommend looking up the soccer game and getting tickets if available
  • Magic Fountain – light and water show at 9 pm every night
Things to do – Night out
  • Opium (main club) – very touristy, filled with Americans studying abroad
  • Suton
  • Bling Bling
General Tips
  • Convenience store: all convenience stores stop selling alcohol at 11 pm so make sure you plan in advance
  • Going out: cover can get expensive a the top clubs so make sure you arrive early
